Exam Study Guide
In human geo today, we talked a lot about exams. He gave us a study guide and went over everything we should expect. Studying for exams is a lot of work and it's definitely not what I expected. I have never studied for semester exams because I have never had them. We didn't really do anything else in human geo today but this was our last class before exams so ill be sure to study hard.

Tests back
Today in human geo, we got our tests back. Im really happy I got a 100 on the test. It made my day that it wasn't that hard. The average in the whole grade was a 90 and that was really good. Also, today we went over the questions on the test and answered every one to make sure we had the correct answers for the exam. The only other thing we did was talk about exams so were prepared for them. In today's human geo class, I was really happy not only because of my test grade, but also because today is a really easy day.

Test
Today in human geo, all we did was take a test. I actually still am in this class right now, but Mr. Schick said we could write ourblog. Currently, Mr Schick is grading the tests and I actually am pretty nervous about what I got, but I am pretty confident since I studied really hard. The test was only fifteen questions anyway so I don't think I did bad at all. Mr. Schick is back now so I can conclude that today's human geo class was ok.

Power point
Today in human geo, I got all my retakes back. Other people got theirs back too, but I got a lot back. Also today, we found out Mr. Schick hates Disney world. Also, we went over a power point and took a lot of notes from it. My notes aren't on my blog because theyre all in one note. We also found out that we have a test Friday and im already starting to study for it. That's really all we did today. Human geo today was really interesting and I hope Fridays test will be really good so I can bring my grade up.

Absent
In human geo yesterday, I was absent, so I don't really know what the class did. I was absent yesterday because I am in New York. New York is a really fun place and I am so happy I got to go here. I'm exhausted because of the ride here, but im having a good time here. Even though im in new York now, I will be at school on Monday, but ill probably be really tired since we are getting home very late on sunday. I hope the class had fun on Friday and on Tuesday ill be back again since we don't have class Monday.

Emmy
Today in human geo, I got to hold an emmy award. Mr. Schick got to see it for the day, so we all got to hold it and take pictures with it. We also saw this weird music video, but it was also cool. It had tv stations and you could change the channel, but its really hard to explain. It was pretty amazing how they could do that kind of technology to the music video. The only other thing we did today was playing some game that mr schick made us play. Human geo today was really fun and I am sad I will miss human geo tomorrow.

Tests back
Today in human geo, we didn't do much at all, even though it was a long class. All we did was get our tests back. We also went over all the right answers for the exam.Mr. Schick also had a serious talk about all our grades on the test and asked what he could do to make the class any easier. I hope we have another test before thanksgiving break so I can bring my grade up fast. I really am hoping midquarters wont be that bad and I can get my grade up so I can be a little more proud of myself. The only other thing that happened in class today, was that some people were taking the test from those who were absent. Human geo today was pretty depressing, but I hope that I am more happy with myself by the end of the midquarter or quarter.

Test and reading
Today in
human geo, Mr. Schick let anyone who didn’t finish the test, finish it. I was
one of those people, but it didn’t take me that long to finish it. Then we
looked on his blog at a link to something we had to read. There was also a
video that we had to watch too. My laptop died before class started so I wasn’t
able to do that. In human geo today, I was really tired, so I wasn’t as successful
as I could be.

Review
Today in human geo, we got told about our test tomorrow. Currently, I am studying really hard and I hope to get an A on this test. Other than that, We went back over the power point so we could have some last minute notes for the test. I think this test should be pretty easy since im studying really hard and going over Mr. Schick's power point. Today we didn't really do much, but we got to have a review before we take the test.

Notetaking
Today in human geography we didn't really do much which was a little boring to me. All we did was take a lot of notes from a power point on leaders which is in another blog post. These notes will probably be on a test which will probably also be very soon. We also had Jasmine come up and teach the class for a little while and have her ask some questions to the class. Jasmine is a really good "teacher" so she gets to teach a lot in class. I think today's human geo class was a little boring, but I hope tomorrow we wont have to take a lot of notes like today.

Power point
Today in human geo, we took a lot of notes and had a one hour late bell. We also got our retake tests back and we went over the questions. We got all the answers for the exams and that took up about half the class. Then, after that, we took notes on a power point that will probably be another study guide for another quiz. The power point was about leaders all over the country. The blog before this were the notes I took. We didn't have to write everything down, but I wrote most stuff to make sure that I was getting enough information. This class was pretty short today, but we had a lot of work to do in the time of the class.

Test
Today in human geography, I retook a test. Mr Schick, my mom told me about reretaking the test and I really appreciate you letting me. I would like to retake it on Monday during a free mod if that's possible. We also were working on a project. I came in late after retaking the test so I didn't understand very much about it. I feel that I do need to work more on the tests and study more probably. Overall, today was an okay class and I hope I can bring my grade up so I can have a good human geo grade on the next quarter.

Video
Today in human geography, we finally changed seats in class, even though I really liked my seat. I was really sad I got moved up to the front and center of the class, because I feel so isolated now. We also went over the political power point and finished the video we started yesterday. I think that everybody was not very entertained with the video because the guy speaking was really boring. After that video, we had another video to watch which was a cartoon that spoke really fast and couldn't understand a word it was saying. After we finished that power point, the bell rang. Todays human geo class was very interesting and I hope I do well on my retake test tomorrow.

Test and Power point
Today in human geography we took a retake test. I was not here on Friday, so I didn't know what the test was like at all. The test seemed easy, but when I got the test back, the grade wasn't so good. Mr. Schick told the people that were absent on Friday that they could retake it id they didn't do that good. I was happy he said that because I didn't want my grade to bump down any further. After we did all that, we took notes on a political power point. at the end of the slideshow, there was a video about this man showing us political stuff and he thought he was funny, when really he wasn't. We didn't get into the whole video, so that's what I'm assuming we will do tomorrow.

Power points
Today in human geography, we had a
lot of shadows joining us to see what we learn. They all went to different
schools and we got to meet them and see what their interests were. Other than
that, today we got our quizzes back on cultural geography that we took last
week. We checked and read our answers so everybody had them for the upcoming
exams. We let some shadows read the answers, but all of them didn’t rally know
the answer so they just read off of the ambassador’s papers. That took up most
of the class today, but we still had a little bit of time. So, in that time, we
checked our power points and revised them so that they were all good to present
tomorrow in class. Human geography was a lot of fun today and I hope that I do well
when I present my power point tomorrow.

Shadow and going over questions
Today in
human geography, I had a shadow named Sophia. She got to see what the class was
like and see what kind of environment we have in the classrooms. Other than
that, Mr. Schick told us that we had a quiz tomorrow and I was pretty nervous.
After he told us that, he let Jasmine teach the class for some time. Jasmine
was a very strict teacher and Mr. Schick liked that. Jasmine went over all the
quiz questions we needed to know and asked us questions to see if we knew them.
When Jasmine was done, Mr. Schick showed us a scene from a movie about
political issues and how the United States is not the best country in the
world. Today was a really fun human geo class and right now I am studying for
the test, hoping for a decent grade so I can bring it up.

Human Geography
Today in
human geography we got a quiz that we took a couple days ago back. It was a
quiz about the total fertility rate and the rate of natural increase. A lot of
people didn’t get A’s on the test, only about 3 or 4 people did. We went over
the answers to the test to make corrections and see if anyone had any
questions. We also talked about the powder puff game that was today and Mr.
Schick was really excited to see the seniors win. I think that today’s human
geography class was interesting and informative.

Kiva and Quiz
Today, I
had human geography first, and we did a lot of work today. First, we took a
test, which I didn’t think was that hard after all. I really hope I got a good
grade on it so I can boost my grade up higher. The test didn’t take very long
to do, so after we took it, we went to a website called kiva. Kiva is where you
can loan people across the world money for them to buy stuff they need for
businesses and then they pay you back within a couple months. Mr. Schick told
us whatever class loaned more money gets a pizza party. I think that will
motivate the grade to loan a lot of money. Human geo was a little boring today,
but I still enjoyed it a little.

Test tomorrow and Shadow !
In today’s human geography class, I
had a shadow. It was really fun and cool to have a shadow, because you get to
show them the way around and what’s there to do. Once I introduced my shadow,
we got to work. Mr. Schick told us everything that was going to be on our test
tomorrow. I think that this test will not be that hard, because he told us most
of the questions that were on the test. I really hope I pass this test because I
want to make up for the last few tests. I also hope this test will not be that
hard, so I can bring my grade up. Human geography today was really fun and
entertaining and I hope that my shadow gets to go to John Carroll next year so
she can have a good high school career.

quiz
Today in
human geography, we got our tests back we took yesterday. The test seemed
pretty easy to me, but I didn’t do that good on it. We went over all the
questions so we could write down the right answer for our exams. After we got
all that done, we went back over our power point we did yesterday. It is really
amazing and shocking how many people don’t live to be that long. I learned a
lot in human geography today and I hope next class will be just as fun.

Quiz and Notetaking
In human
geography today, we had a double mod so we did plenty of things. We had shadows
come to our class, but Mr. Schick let them walk around and do whatever they
wanted. When the shadows left, we took a quiz on the movie we have been
watching the past three days. The quiz was not hard at all, it was easy because
we could use our blog to help us with the quiz. That quiz took up our first
mod, so after that when we were in the second mod we took some notes from a
power point about the population of different countries. We learned that there
was three different kinds of population graph shapes: A Christmas tree, a box,
and a cup. I think that I learned a lot in human geography today and my
learning was put to the test a lot in this class.

God Grew Tired of Us
Today in
human geography, it felt just like yesterday. We basically did the same exact
thing today. The same thing happened with the sound again, it didn’t work, so
Mr. Schick had to restart his computer to get it to work. After the sound got
to work, we continued to watch the movie we were watching previous days. There
is really nothing much to say about today, other than what I just said, but I really
am enjoying the movie. I find it really interesting how these Sudanese came to America
and tried to make a living. I am really excited to see what happens at the end
because we get to see if they make it in America, or go back to the refugee
camp in Kenya.

Movie today
Today in
human geography, we watched some more of the ‘God Grew Tired of Us” movie. In
the beginning though, our sound didn’t work so that took up about ten minutes
of the class to fix. After we got all that sorted out, we continued to the
movie. It is so depressing that the Sudanese always think about their friends in
Kenya at the camp. It just shows how much they love and care for each other. I found
it really wild that the Sudanese didn’t even know what a shower is or how to
use one. It is really sad that other people have to live in such horrible
conditions and try to survive while we have whatever we want. Human Geography
class really teaches me to be thankful for what I have and to not take things
for granted every day.
Tuesday, October 1, 2013
Movie today
Today in human
geography I don’t think we did much. All we did was watch a movie about Sudan
and wars. It’s really depressing to see all these people die for something they
can’t help. We learned what happened during that war and that the Sudanese had
to move from Ethiopia to Kenya and they had to stay there for a decade. After a
few years went by, some people were chosen to move to the United States which
was a great opportunity for the Sudanese. Mr. Schick also had us take some
important notes on the movie. We haven’t finished the movie, but I think we
will tomorrow.

Vocab terms
Today
in human geography, we looked at vocab terms. Mr. Schick presented a slideshow
to us and he told us what the terms mean. I’m pretty sure we got to all the
terms and we also got some notes down for the test. Mr. Schick told us that we
write very slowly and we need to learn to write faster. He scared me a little
when he said that in college, the professor will move on very fast. By the time
we finished the slideshow, everybody was ready for the day to be over because
the students were all worn out from the day and writing. I think that I am not
prepared for the test, but I’ll be sure to study a lot and I’ll know what to
expect on other tests and quizzes further into the school year.

Human Geography Test
Today in human
geography, we had a pretty hard test to do. The test was ten questions and
there were three essays on the back of the paper involved. I did not think the
test was that easy because of how much we had to write on the essays. The
essays had to be really detailed and had to cover the page. After the test was
finally over and I was done, Mr. Schick let us work on homework which I am
doing right now. I am glad that I have finished most of my homework in all my
classes because now I don’t have to do any homework over the weekend. It took
up the whole class to get everybody finished but thankfully we did not have
anyone that did not finish. I thought that today’s class was not that fun but I hope
to have better classes further into the year!

Presentations
Today in human geography, we presented our PowerPoint presentations about globalization to the class. I thought it was very interesting to see what people wrote down for their pros and cons about it. I think that my group did really well presenting it and I wish that was graded because of how hard we worked on it. While other people were presenting though, other people were trying to get theirs done so they weren't paying attention to the people that were presenting. I think that Mr. Schick liked the power points and was very impressed, except for not showing that much detail. Other than that, I think he liked what everybody presented. Today was an interesting day and I have studied hard for the test tomorrow.

Nike Discussion
Today in Human Geography, we
discussed about the “Behind the Swoosh” video we watched yesterday. We took a
deeper look into it and read some articles about how bad it really was to work
there. After we read some articles and discussed about it, I realized how bad
they have it and how good we have it. It makes me look back on life and realize
that Americans get a lot and Indonesians can barely eat a meal. To me, it’s
really sad and unfair that this happens because the workers are people too. It should not
matter where they live or what language they speak. It should be about how hard
they work and they probably work harder than half the Americans in the U.S. Human
Geography really teaches me that I have it really good and I shouldn’t take it
for granted every day because there are people out there working harder than
ever as we speak.

Video Today
Today in
Human Geography, we watched a video on YouTube called “Behind the Swoosh”. It
was a twenty minute long video that talked about paying minimum wage to
employees that lived in Indonesia. A famous soccer player was very concerned
about it, so he went to Indonesia and protested that the employees deserve more
money. We haven’t finished the video, so we don’t know the outcome of it yet,
but I am totally against the employees working for $1.25 a day. I think they
should work for more money and get the basic needs in life like everybody else.
The foreign countries deserve just as much as we do so why treat them like
dirt?

Group Projects
Yesterday in
Human Geography, we had a lot of problems going on. Our wireless internet wasn’t
working and that took up half the class trying to get it to work. I think that
the whole class was happy because we didn’t have to do research. After the
internet was finally working, we got into groups for a project. Our project was
to create a slideshow of the pros and cons of globalization. Globalization is
sharing and importing products around the world. We went to the google drive to
do our project which was really cool. I love working with the google drive
because it is so much easier than using one computer and switching back and
forth and sharing ideas. With the google drive, you can use as many computers
as you want and they don’t have to be in the same room to work together! Yesterday’s
human geography class turned out pretty good and it was a lot of work.

Class Today!
Today in Human Geography, we looked at
pictures that was surprising to us. The first picture we looked at was a KFC
and McDonalds in Japan. I thought this was very surprising to me because it
showed how much connection there is in the world and I find that really cool.
Another picture we looked at was a man from Kenya using a phone. This was
really unusual because a lot of people in Kenya are poor and can barely afford
clothes. This man could not only afford the basic needs to live, but also
afford a phone which I found very interesting. There’s also barely any service
in Kenya, but this man managed to pick up some service from a cell phone tower.
I thought what we looked at today was pretty interesting and cool and I am
amazed by all these things in America today.

9/11 Discussion
Today in human
geography we talked about 9/11, one of the most memorable days in American history.
We asked questions about that day, and we got to have a whole conversation
about it. I thought that it was very interesting and that day really does amaze
me because of how horrible it is to have terrorists do this to us. Mr. Schick also
told us about his experience when 9/11 happened. He told us how depressing and
creepy it was to have this happen. Some people even though that that day was
the beginning of world war 3! After we talked about 9/11, we took some notes in
our book and Mr. Schick showed us some pictures about world connection. Today’s
class was very inspiring and I thought it was amazing to have us talk about
this horrific event and I can’t wait for upcoming classes!

Class Today
Today in human Geography, we were taught how to use the google drive. The google drive is where we can share our documents and projects with Each other without being on the same computer or being in the same room. We got into groups of our choice and then we downloaded the app onto our laptops so we could get started on our paper. Mr. Schick had us write questions and answers that we thought would be on the test. The class got a little distracted by how interesting the app was, but we understood everything that Mr. Schick taught us. I think that this app that the teacher showed us, will be very helpful in the future for upcoming group projects or papers we will have to write. The app taught me a lot today and it has taught me easier ways to work with other people. This just shows how much technology has improved the way we learn and communicate with other people. I was taught a lot in this class today and I have definitely improved my skills in technology and learning with other students and I look forward to upcoming classes this year.

Today in Class...
Today in class we
had another student teacher, Carly. I like having students as teachers because
the class has a lot of fun and we also interact a lot more. While Carly was a
teacher, she had other students go over our last blog which was about the ‘did
you know?’ video. We didn’t really want to share our blog, so Carly had to
choose people instead which we didn’t like very much. That pretty much took up
our whole class, but I thought it was really cool that Mr. Schick let us have
students as teachers for the day. I think that it’s a really good idea because
it motivates the class to work and succeed for the school year.

Facts video!!
Today in human
geography we watched a video called ‘did you know?’ Mr. Schick made us write down three facts that
meant something to us that was in the video. The first fact I wrote down was
that “The U.S. ranks 28th in the world in broadband internet penetration”. This
meant a lot to me because I thought that the U.S. was would be at least 10th
because of all the smartphones we have. The next fact that meant something to
me was “Soon China will become the number one English speaking country. I could
understand a little why that is, but the fact that China speaks more English
than in the U.S. is very surprising. The last fact that meant something to me
was that 1 out of 6 couples met online. I not only found this hard to believe,
but I also found it kind of interesting, because you have never exactly met
them in person before, but you’re still “dating” them. These facts really
caught my attention and I sometimes wonder how much things change in even one
day.

Class Today
Today in Human Geography,
we did plenty of things. Most of the mod, Mr. Schick let Steven teach the
class. Steven was very confident in what he was doing and he didn't give up
when he couldn't think of things to say. I thought today’s class was a lot more
fun than our usual classes, because we interacted more and we used our laptops
to look up things. While Steven was teaching the class, we went over what we
learned the past few days. Mr. Schick
also was taught more things about the smart board that was useful for him. I
feel that we should have students teach the class more often because it was
very interacting and fun. I think that today’s Human Geography class was one of
the best classes I had yet and I can’t wait for the upcoming classes we will
have later in the year.

Class today
Today in human geo we did some interesting
things. First, we went over our homework and Mr. Schick checked our grades for
us. Fortunately, we all had good grades and is passing the class so far. After
that, we went over the definitions we were supposed to post to our blog. Our
class doesn’t participate very well, so he warned us with essays and told us to
participate more. When we went over our notes, we heard what other people wrote
so we could have more detail in our definitions. The last thing we did in class
today was Mr. Schick told us what to write if we were absent or what to do if
you were absent. I had a lot of fun in human geography today and I can’t wait
to see what we do further into the school year.

Acheiving Excellence
There are plenty things in high school you can do to achieve
excellence. One thing you could do is be responsible. To be responsible you
have to get papers in and get to classes on time, do your homework, study hard,
and check your grades. Something else you can do to achieve excellence is get
involved in school clubs and activities. I joined cheerleading and drama so I can
have a fun, but challenging year. Another thing you can do is be organized. In
order to achieve excellence in high school you have to have everything
organized. Some ways to organize are labeling things, separating stuff by class
in your locker, and cleaning out papers when you don’t need them anymore.
Another way to achieve excellence is to get to bed at a reasonable time. If you
go to bed at midnight or later, you will be super tired the next morning and
not be focused which could lead to bad grades. One last way to achieve is to
keep up with your grades and email by looking at them at least every week. I
think that if you follow these steps to achieve excellence you will succeed in
high school

Class today
In human
geography today, we did a lot of things on the computer and it was pretty fun!
We ran into some problems, but we figured everything out eventually. The first
thing we did was we went over who did their homework from last night and who didn't.
We also customized our blog with backgrounds and put a new link in it that we
will use during the year. I learned a lot from what we were doing to our blog
and it was very helpful. The last thing we did was we went over what we had to
do for homework tonight. I learned a lot of things about Google and blogger.com
in only two days and I already understand everything that is going on in class.
This is a very fun class and I am positive that I will have a good year!

My first day of high school
My first day of high school was very enjoyable and so much better
than I expected. I met a lot of new people and I am very happy that I did. All my
teachers are really nice and I was happy and thankful that none of the teachers
are too strict. It was easy to find my way around the school and I could get to
every class without getting lost or being late. The school and the people
around me makes me feel welcome and I am happy that I chose John Carroll as my
high school. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my four years at this school,
because I know it will help me to succeed in life. I know I will get a good
education from this school and learn how to make good choices in my life, and
that is why I chose to John Carroll.
